1st Hale Barns Scout Group are looking for new recruits.
We have recently restarted our Beaver Colony and are welcoming new members! Meetings are held on Friday early evenings, from 6.15-7.15pm and are open for boys and girls aged between 6 and 8. Beavers will master new skills and try new things, play games and create arts and crafts, make new friends, go on adventures and of course, have fun!
Our Cub Pack is open to all young people aged 8 to 10 1⁄2 and meet every week on Monday evenings between 6.30pm-8.00pm. Our Cubs enjoy playing games, learning the basics of Scouting and acquiring new skills such as cooking, first aid, fire building and important character skills. With one or two camps a year, there is plenty of opportunity to put all their new found skills to use!
Our Scout Troop meets every Friday evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and is for young people aged 10 1⁄2 to 14. At every meeting Scouts can expect to play games and learn valuable life skills like team-working, pioneering and map reading, while expanding on cooking, first aid and fire building skills learnt during their time in Cubs. Other activities our Scouts undertake include hiking, canoeing and two or three camps each year.
If you are interested in finding out more or if your child would like to join our Scout Group, please feel free to reach out using the below contact information. Hope to hear from you soon!

King's Coronation Celebrations at Broomwood Primary School on Friday 5th May
To celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III, Broomwood Primary School are going to hold a Great British Picnic on Friday 5th May from 2.00-3.00pm. Children from across the school will be taken onto the field so they can watch some amazing performances from our school choir, musical theatre group and a singer/songwriter that has agreed to come and play for us. There will also be an opportunity for the whole school to get involved with a sing along as well as a chance to get those flags waving to a rendition of the National Anthem.
To accompany the great entertainment, all children will also be given a snack pack to eat and will be asked to come to school for that day dressed in red, white and blue.
As this is going to be such a momentous occasion we also felt that we would love to get our parents and carers involved in the celebrations as well. Therefore, we are inviting parents/carers to come along on Friday 5th May from 2.00-3.00pm to celebrate with your children. You can bring some snacks and drinks to share with your child however, we do ask that you do not bring anything containing nuts or alcohol. We would also encourage you to bring rugs and picnic blankets to sit on however please do not bring camping chairs as they can restrict the view of others. Upon entering the field, you can go and sit with your child near the rest of their class. Please ensure that you remain close to your child’s class as the class teacher is still responsible for their behaviour, toileting and safety. If you have more than one child just make class teachers aware you are collecting them before sitting together somewhere on the field.
To ensure safety we do need to keep a record of the numbers on site therefore we will be distributing wrist bands for this event and there will be a limit of 2 wristbands per adult per family. These will be available from the office on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd May. We are aware that many families do have younger children and we are happy for you to bring them along to this event. However, we do expect that all children will be sat down throughout the show out of respect for the performers on stage. At the end of the celebrations all children will need to make their way back to their class mats whilst all adults will be asked to leave the field. All children will then be taken back to classrooms before being released from school in the usual manner.
In the event of typically poor British weather we will still run the event inside for the children however we will unfortunately not be able to allow adults to attend. If this is going to be the case we will try to let you know with as much notice as possible.
We look forward to seeing you all at what should be a memorable occasion.
Mr Bridge and Miss Taylor
